How to Jailbreak Apple Tv 2 on ios 5.2.1 using Seasonpass (tethered)

If you have an Apple Tv 2 but never really use it or you just want to give it a boost, this article might be for you.

Apple Recently updated their firmware on the apple Tv from ios 5.2 to 5.2.1. Like every other update it ruined the jailbreak so we all had to wait for the jailbreak companies to figure out how to deal with this new firmware. The first to do that was FireCore. And in this article i'm going to show you how to jailbreak ios 5.2.1 using Seasonpass made by FireCore.




This is a tethered jailbreak which means that you have to plug your apple tv into your computer every time you want to turn it on. We are still waiting for someone to release an Untethered jailbreak and i think FireCore is going to be the first on this one too.
You can visit FireCores own website or just follow Your Tech Feed to stay up to date with the untethered jailbreak.

Before the Jailbreak:

• Make sure you have the latest version of itunes installed.
• Download Seasonpass.
• Get a Micro usb Cable.
• Disconnect any iPods, iPhones, or iPads from the computer.

Jailbreak:

Step 1: Locate Seasonpass

Step 2: Select the ‘Create IPSW’ button to start the jailbreak process

Step 3: The latest Apple TV software will be downloaded and used to create a custom ‘jailbroken’ software file.

Step 4: When prompted, connect your Apple Tv using a micro-USB cable (leave power disconnected).

Once the light on the front of the Apple Tv begins to flash rapidly, point the remote at the AppleTV and hold both the MENU and PLAY/PAUSE buttons for 7 seven seconds

Step 5: iTunes will open automatically and start the restore process. (note: if it comes up with an error it's alright)

Step 6: iTunes will confirm the restore when complete. Now the Apple Tv is Jailbroken so we just need to do the tethered boot.

Tethered boot:

Step 1: Open Seas0nPass and select the ‘Boot Tethered’ option

Step 2: When prompted, connect the Apple Tv to your computer via USB. Wait for the rapid flashing light then connect the power. Once both are connected hold both the ‘MENU’ and ‘PLAY/PAUSE’ buttons for 7 seven seconds

Step 3: Seas0n Pass will complete the tethered boot automatically. Once complete, remove the USB cable and connect the HDMI cable (note: Timing is key. Once the you receive the success message shown below, the USB cable should be removed and HDMI cable connected before the light on the front of the AppleTV stops flashing. (Don’t worry there is ample to do this, so you don’t need Superman speed).

And now you are done! enjoy your jailbroken Apple Tv!
